The pelagic zone is any water in the sea that is neither close to the bottom not near the shore.
Basic Information:
There are 5 parts to the pelagic zone. The Epipelagic, Mesopelagic, Bathypelagic, Abyssopelagic, and Hadopelagic zones. Typically the only Renewable and Non- Renewable resources that can be found in this zone are wave energy (renewable) and oil (non- renewable). Some interesting facts about the Pelagic zone is that it takes up about 32 million cubic miles with a maixium depth of 1300feet. Due to the depth of this biome all fish that live here are named Pelagic fish. Because of this, their habbiat is affected by low light intensity, pressure, temperature, salinity, supply of dissolved oxygen and nutrients, and the submarine topography .This biome is made up of all the worlds oceans except for costal waters and the sea floor in other words it is known for being the "Home of the Oceans" and is nicknamed the "Open Ocean". The climate of the Pelagic zone varies from the different sub-zones. Their are no forms of air or precipitation in this biome&also various temperatures due to the biome being under water. The only human impact that can occur happens in the first two zones(Epipelagic&Mesopelagic) and that is submarine and maybe scuba activity. Pollution can be a major threat to the biome (caused by humans) and can cause harm to the animals living here.
